My adult daughter has Chronic Inflammatory Demylenating Polyneuropathy (the chronic form of Guillain Barre Syndrome), it affects her nerves creating severe numbness in her hands/arms and feet/legs. Could this autoimmune disease be due to parasites? If so what parasitic treatment is recommended? Thanks!

      Hello Sharon,
While parasitic infections can sometimes trigger autoimmune responses in the body, there is no direct evidence to suggest that parasites directly cause CIDP. CIDP is believed to result from a combination of genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and immune system dysfunction. However, further research is needed to fully understand the underlying causes of CIDP.
However, you can start antihelminthic treatment as a preventive measure due to the improvement of your daughter’s general health.
